Aguilar to seek seat on council

Feb. 28, 2006- Oscar Aguilar has become the first person to sign up to run for a place on Sulphur Springs City Council.

Aguilar, a funeral director at West Oaks Funeral Home, filed Tuesday as a candidate for the Place 3 council seat currently held by Joe Crouch.

Crouch has not indicated to the News-Telegram whether he plans to seek another term on the council or not.

Two other seats on the council, Place 1, held by Garry Jordan and Place 2, held by Clay Walker, are also on the May city election ballot.

The last day to file as a candidate in the city election will be Monday, March 13.

Early voting for the May 13 city election will be conducted at Sulphur Springs City Offices beginning Monday, May 1, and continuing through Tuesday, May 9.
