Dec. 21, 2006 - Police launched an extensive search Tuesday afternoon for a man who reportedly attempted to abduct a teen-ager.
The young girl was not abducted, nor were officers able to locate the suspect.
The incident was reported around 2 p.m. Tuesday by the 14-year-old who eluded capture. The girl told police that she had walked outside her home on Longino Street when a man reached for her hand and attempted to grab her. She told police she took off, running to a location further down the block, where she contacted police after successfully escaping from the man, investigators said Wednesday morning.
All available police officers responded to launch an extensive search for the suspect, but were not successful.
The girl described her would-be abductor as a white male, thought to be about middle-aged, with a balding head. He was wearing blue jeans, a T-shirt and flip-flop shoes.
Anyone spotting the suspect or with information about the incident is urged to contact police as soon as possible.
