|Annual Mahoney Road New Year’s Eve Party to benefit Chrysalis House|
|From Staff Reports|
Dec. 17, 2006 - A rockin' New Year’s Eve party is planned this month that will benefit an organization established to assist displaced women.
On Dec. 31, The Lodge will be the site of the the fourth annual “Mahoney Road New Year’s Eve Party."
The $75 ticket price for the 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. party includes the traditional music, dancing, hors d'eourves, champagne, party favors, breakfast, and beer, wine and margaritas. Organizers note that while the ticket price is a little higher this year, "You should expect more for your money, and you’ll get it!"
The music is provided by Mahoney Road, a local rock 'n' roll band based heavily in classic rock from the 60s and 70s. Band members include Joe Weaver, guitar and keyboard; Danny McLeroy, lead guitar; Bob Day, rhythm guitar; Keith Steele, bass guitar; Rick Murray, drums; Angie English, lead vocals; and David Graves, keyboard.
The annual party is always considered a great way to spend New Year's Eve, but the gathering also helps people by benefiting local charities. Last year the event raised more than $13,000 for the Star Nuckolls Foundation, a non-profit corporation that benefits local cancer patients and their families. In prior years, more than $35,000 was raised.
Chrysalis House is this year's beneficiary. Established to assist displaced women, Chrysalis House volunteers are busy renovating an old nursing home facility located at the intersection of Jefferson Street and Loop 301.
