Aug. 22, 2006 -- Water service to about 30 Arbala families was disrupted for a little over 3 hours this morning following a line break on FM 2297 around sunrise.

Officials with Shady Grove Water Supply Company #2 first began receiving calls about water difficulties around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday morning. When officials began checking, they discovered the main water line along FM 2297 located about a mile out of Sulphur Springs had burst, causing the disruption

"It was from the earth moving," said Maxine George, manager for the Shady Grove water group. "The pipe had been there for a number of years. As the earth moves, it causes pipes to break. That's what happened. We cut the valve off about a mile out from town. The ones south of it were affected."

Officials were able to repair the pipe, still in otherwise good condition, and water service was restored by 10 a.m. Tuesday.
