|4-H Bowl-and-Enroll coming Sept. 1|
|From Staff Reports|
August 13, 2006 - The annual 4-H Bowl-and-Enroll will take place at Classic Lanes on Friday, Sept. 1, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Youths from across the county will have the opportunity to enroll for the 2006-2007 4-H year, while they meet new friends and enjoy bowling. Adults and parents who would like to serve as a 4-H leader will also have the opportunity to enroll.
There are currently five active 4-H clubs in Hopkins County: two in Sulphur Springs, and one each in Cumby, Dike and Miller Grove, serving approximately 150 youths combined.
While going bowling Sept. 1 may be their first introduction to 4-H, it's far from the only activity prospective members can take an interest in. 4-H projects include photography, public speaking, foods, clothing, livestock, recreation, and many others. Multi-county camps, day camps, leadership retreats, project-related workshops and contests, club meetings, recreational activities, and community service are some of the opportunities offered in the Hopkins County 4-H program.
To find out more about the 4-H program, contact the Hopkins County office of the Texas Cooperative Extension Service, 228 Hinnant St., by calling 903-885-3443 or 903-885-3726.
