Aug. 3, 2006 -- With the first day of school less than two weeks away, several local school districts have set aside at least one day to better acquaint students with their class schedules, and in some cases the campus.

Wondering when classes start for your students? Sulphur Springs, Miller Grove, Sulphur Bluff and Cumby schools will all begin classes on Monday, Aug. 14. North Hopkins and Saltillo will begin classes on Aug. 21, and Como-Pickton on Sept. 5.

Sulphur Springs ISD

Sulphur Springs High School

Onn Friday, Aug. 11, freshmen students at SSHS will get their schedules between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. during freshmen orientation. All other students may pick up their schedules from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Students picking up schedules should note that their immunization records and the previous year's records must both be cleared before they can get their schedules. Should any schedule changes be needed or scheduling problems arise, the student should sign up on the list in the cafeteria so the counselors will know the change needs to be made. Students should keep in mind however, that changes will be minimal.

While getting schedules, students may also get their handbooks, which can be particularly useful when purchasing new school clothes or planning for the new year.

Sulphur Springs Middle School

Students who will be playing sports may also pick up athletics equipment from the field house during designated schedule pick-up times.

SSMS students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in order to fill out any needed paperwork during those times as well, according to school officials.

Any school-age students who have not obtained all of the required immunizations may do so from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at SSMS.
