April 24, 2006 - A Carter Street house was damaged early Sunday morning by a fire of undetermined origin, according to Sulphur Springs Assistant Fire Chief Tim Vaughn.

Luckily no one was injured in the fire, nor was there substantial damage to personal items. The residents were in the process of moving out of the house, and had already moved most of their belongings to their new residence and were not at the Carter St. house when the fire occurred.

Firefighters were dispatched to 305 Carter Street at 4:35 a.m. Sunday, after neighbors noticed the fire.

Firefighters made a quick stop on the blaze, limiting damage to the rear portion of the house where the fire was believed to have started. In addition to moderate fire damage, the entire structure received heavy smoke damage.

Firemen remained on scene until nearly 6:20 a.m. Sunday. The cause of the blaze was still under investigation at noon Monday, according to Vaughn.
