Attempted capital murder, sexual assault,  indictments returned

April 3, 2006 - A Hopkins County grand jury ended its March session by handing up 55 felony indictments naming 37 individuals.

The list of indictments ranges from attempted capital murder, multiple indictments alleging sexual assault of a child against a single individual and large number of indictments for possession of controlled substances and possesion of marijuana.

The grand jury indictments were handed up to Judge Robert Newsom of the 8th Judicial Court for Hopkins County.

It is important to note that when someone is indicted by a grand jury, they are merely charged with a crime. It should not be considered as evidence of either guilt or innocence.
