Oct. 14, 2005 -- State troopers arrested two out-of-town residents on felony drug charges after finding 1 pound of crack cocaine concealed in the dash of a Pontiac Grand Am Thursday night.
State troopers Corey Kernell and Trent Price stopped the eastbound car at 9:10 p.m. Thursday at the 110 mile marker on Interstate 30 east for a defective license plate light. The driver was identified as 29-year-old Markiel Dealone White of North Little Rock, Ark., and the passenger as 30-year-old Rodriguez Antonio Wiley of Pleasant Grove.
White was noted in arrest reports to appear nervous while giving other indications of suspicious activity, while Wiley had marijuana residue in his lap. Suspecting criminal activity, the troopers requested and were given permission to search the car.
As troopers search inside the Grand Am they discovered the glove box had been removed. Checking that area further, officers found a large quantity of crack cocaine concealed in the dash of the car.
Both White and Wiley were then arrested for first-degree felony possession of more than 400 grams of the controlled substance crack cocaine. They awaited arraignment midmorning Friday.
