Blue Santa still taking donations
From Staff Reports

Dec. 25, 2005 - Although Christmas will soon be over, Blue Santa's efforts will continue in the community in preparation for next year. Toy barrells will be left at most local businesses through New Year's Day to  begin collecting donations to ensure next year's toy drive is a success.

Also, anyone wishing to make monetary contributions may do so by contacting Lela Radney at 903-438-4006, Tina Lazarus at Hopkins County Sheriff's Office at 903-438-4040, or by calling Sulphur Springs Police Department at 903-885-7602 beginning Tuesday.

All monetary donations will be used by program organizers to purchase toys at discounted rates throughout the year in order to have a sufficient supply for the 2006 toy distribution to ensure families in need receive the assistance needed to provide their children with Christmas gifts.

This year, the Blue Santa program which is sponsored by Hopkins County Law Enforcement Association and Sulphur Springs Law Enforcement Association, provided toys for upwards of 1,000 children in more than 100 families.
