Dec. 13, 2005 -- A familiar face has returned to Sulphur Springs city staff. Long-time city secretary Sharon Ricketson came out of retirement today to serve as interim library director for the city following the unexpected resignation of librarian Kitty St. Claire.
City Manager Marc Maxwell said Monday he was very pleased to have the former city secretary again involved with city government.
"Sharon Ricketson will be the interim library director for the next couple of months while the search is on for a permanent one," Maxwell said.
The city manager said he hopes to find a permanent librarian in the very near future.
"From what I understand from the North East Texas Library System, there are a number of qualified librarians in the work force," he said. "I will probably have a substantial response."
St. Claire submitted her resignation, effective immediately, to the city manger's office on Friday after accepting a position in Weatherford.
St. Claire's husband, Frank Smith, recently left his post as Hopkins County tourism director to accept a position in Graham, about 50 miles west of Weatherford.
