|SSHS Band places six on All Region Band|

Dec. 12, 2005 - Six students from Sulphur Springs High School were selected to seats on the two All Region Bands following competition Friday. Two ranked high enough in their section to advance to the Area competition. Two freshmen were also noted for being the only students other than seniors earning spots at All Region, but to also to make the Freshman All Region Band last week.
Senior Jarred Dodd qualified to compete in the area contest by earning second chair trumpet in the first band, also known as the wind ensemble, Freshman Kaci Mohon also advances to the Jan. 7 area contest after earning fourth chair clarinet in the first band. They will face stiff competition from the top students in their sections from four regions at the Area contest.
SSHS students earning spots in the second All Region Bands composed of 9th through 12th grade students were senior Mike Floyd, first chair alto saxophone; senior Josh Bowers, third chair trumpet; Matthew Y'Barbo, third chair trombone; and freshman Eddie Arciga, sixth chair trombone.
Mohon and Arciga were noted for being the only 9th graders to make the All Region Band and being among the 14 SSHS freshmen selected to the Freshman Band which will hold a clinic Jan. 28 in Mount Pleasant. Arciga earned first chair trombone in the Freshman All Region Band, and Mohon will play second chair clarinet in the Freshman All Region Band which will hold a clinic Jan. 28 in Mount Pleasant.
