|Hey, its almost time for the hay show|
|By Larry Spradlin | Extension Agent/Agriculture|
August 14, 2005 - I know that everyone is still hoping for some rain so that they might get in another cutting of hay, but it is the time of year to start preparing for the Hopkins County Hay Show.
The hay show is sponsored by the Hopkins County Professional Agriculture Workers Association, and the hay show is their money-raising activity for the year.
We would like to welcome all and any participants to enter a bale of hay. You may enter it with any of the professional ag-workers, but most bring their samples of hay to the Extension office on Hinnant Street here in Sulphur Springs. This year there will be a limit of two samples per family, and the hay is to be raised here in the county, of course. There will be prizes awarded to the top three bales of hay but all samples will get a free protein analysis of their hay. All high school students need to check with your vo-ag (vocational agriculture) teacher on how they wish to gather samples.
Any and all hay samples are due in the Hopkins County Extension office on Sept. 1 or 2. If you have any questions concerning the hay show, please contact us at the Extension Office at 903-885-3443.
