|Schedule pick-up dates set for SSISD students|
|From Staff Reports|
Aug. 4, 2005 -- Sulphur Springs Middle School officials have designated next Thursday and Friday, Aug. 11-12, for students to pick up schedules and for distribution of athletic equipment to eighth grade boys.
Thursday will be for eighth graders only. From 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., all eighth graders can pick up their schedules in the school cafeteria. Eighth grade boys will also be asked to pick up their athletic equipment during those hours Thursday.
Then on Friday, seventh graders can begin picking their schedules up at 8:30 a.m. but are asked to pick them up before 11:30 a.m. Then, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., sixth graders will be able pick up their schedules for the 2005-2006 school year.
All middle school students should be accompanied by a parent or guardian to fill out paperwork.
Also, high school students are reminded that Friday, Aug. 12, has been designated for them to pick up schedules. The day will begin with freshman orientation and schedule pick-up from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., as well as yearbook pick-up for 2005 graduates. Students in grades 10-12 will be able to pick up their schedules and yearbooks, if ordered, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The high school activities will commence in the school cafeteria, and all students picking up schedules are reminded to bring with them the AGR (age, grade, registration) forms which were mailed to each student in order to obtain their schedule.
All new students in Head Start, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten who are not already enrolled are encouraged to register beginning the first week in August at Early Childhood Learning Center.
Parents of new elementary students should visit District Director of Elementary Education/Testing Connie Mabe in the Administration Building, 631 Connally St., before Friday, Aug. 12, to enroll in classes and receive a campus assignment. Elementary campus assignments are made based on residence and available space at each grade level. Priority is given for placement in neighborhood schools based on location of residence, but if that school has full classes in the grade level, the child could be assigned to another campus, she explained.
New elementary students who have already enrolled and been assigned to a campus should report to that campus between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, for registration.
New fifth graders should visit Douglas Intermediate School to enroll for classes on or before the first day of school.
All Sulphur Springs students will begin school Monday, Aug. 15, at the regular time. School supply lists for elementary students are available from local merchants to help parents better equip their children for the new school year
