|FUMC sponsoring 4th Annual Back to School Clothing Sale on Aug. 20|
|From Staff Reports|
Aug. 4, 2005 -- As the calendar rushes madly toward back-to-school time, what mom is not searching for clothing bargains?
Look no further that the 4th Annual Back to School Clothing Sale, sponsored by First United Methodist Church.
The county-wide event scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 20, at the church’s Family Life Center offers clothing priced at only 25 cents per item, regardless of size, according to clothing drive organizer Lynne Merrick.
All proceeds from the sale will benefit Chrysalis House of Sulphur Springs, a nondenominational faith-based ministry that provides emergency housing for single women and their children while giving them opportunities to grow spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally. Chrysalis House is located at the intersection of Loop 301 and Jefferson Street.
“This is truly a win-win-win opportunity,” Merrick said. “First, everyone will have a perfect time to recycle clothes from family closets. Second, parents will be able to buy good, quality clothes for their kids at a small cost. Third, all the money will go directly to the Chrysalis House.”
The church will be open daily to accept donations of clothing which is in good condition and suitable for children through adult sizes, as well as backpacks, in a drop-box located by the door of FUMC’s Family Life Center, located across the street from the post office.
Any clothing not sold will be donated to a clothing bank.
