June 17, 2004 -- A memorial fund for the family of DelFino and Hortencia Bautista, who were killed along with their daughter, Hilda Bautista, in a traffic accident Sunday, has been established at City National Bank in Sulphur Springs.

Donations may be made to the Bautista Memorial Fund at the bank, 201 Connally St.

DelFino Bautista, 46, and his wife, Hortencia Martinez Bautista, 41, and their daughter, Hilda Bautista, 21, all of Sulphur Springs died Sunday, June 13, in an automobile accident on Interstate 30 in Sulphur Springs. The couple's three other children were also injured in the wreck but their injuries were not life-threatening.

Rosary will be said for the three deceased members of the Bautista family this evening at 7 p.m. at West Oaks Funeral Home.

Funeral services and interment for the family will be held in Panteon Municipal de La Luz Rio Grande, Zacatecas, Mexico.

International arrangements for the funerals were made through the Dallas office of the Consulate General of Mexico, Hopkins County Sheriff's Office and Texas Department of Public Safety.

The family was traveling east on I-30 when a rear tire apparently blew out, sending the vehicle out of control. The vehicle overturned in the center median, according to Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Ronny Glossup, who was called to the accident scene.

"It started to turn over," Glossup said. "The two females were ejected out the windshield and it went across the median into the westbound [lanes]. A couple of children were thrown out, and it landed upside down in the westbound lane"

The two teenagers and one child who were also injured in the accident were taken to a Dallas hospital. They will be under the care of local family members.
