|Saturday parade will celebrate Black History Month|

Feb. 6, 2004 -- "Remembering Our Heritage," an African-American parade to celebrate Black History Month, will kick off at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Cypress Baptist Center, 400 Como St.
The parade will proceed through the center of town surrounding Pacific Park, down streets parallel to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Carter, Lamar and Beckham streets, and ending at the H.W. Grays Building in Pacific Park, where there will be booths to register voters, food booths, fellowship and information exchange.
Parade marshals are Dr. and Mrs. Marion H. Wheeler, who will be leading several cars, floats, horses and 4-wheel brigades, along with community groups and supporters in celebration of their heritage and strengthening the right to make a difference by registering voters.
