Grand jury indicts 26 people
Man accused of shooting brother among those facing felony charges

Dec. 12, 2004 -- In an unusual second session for November, a Hopkins County Grand Jury returned 29 felony indictments against 26 people. The indictments ranged from aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and deadly conduct to injury to a child, interference with child custody and drug and alcohol-related offenses.

Mark Rexford Young was named in two separate indictments, one for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and the other for deadly conduct, in connection with an August shooting that left Young's brother-in-law, Jerry Lynn Price, with gunshot wound to the head. Price later recovered from the wound.

The second indictment against Young was directly related to the shooting and involved shots being fired in the direction of other family members.

Young has remained in Hopkins County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bond on the charges since his arrest shortly after the shooting occurred.

  • James Dennis Porter -- Theft
  • Leonard Darnell Pounders -- Injury to a child
  • Danny Ray Rollins -- Possession of marijuana
  • Brandi Nicole Rose -- Forgery
  • Alfred Ray Scott -- Unauthorized discharge into waters
  • Dexter Dewayne Smart-- Possession of marijuana
  • Roddick Undrea Williams -- Assault on a public servant
  • Roddick Undrea Williams -- Assault on pa ublic servant
  • Marcos Mendoza Rojas -- Possession of a controlled substance

Note that when someone is indicted by a grand jury, they are only charged with a crime. It should not be considered as evidence of either guilt or innocence.
