Bowling league report for Oct. 22

Susan Shelton has 680 scratch series to lead women at Classic Lanes

Shelton, of Greenville, led the women this week with her staggering 680 three game scratch series.  Shelton looked poised as she started Sunday night mixed play with a solid 258 and followed with games of 223 and 199 on her 186 average. Due to Shelton’s remarkable set her team, The Bears, swept their competition and started the new six week period of the season in first place.

Owens ties record with win over TH

    The win Friday by the Sulphur Springs Wildcats over rival Texas High turned out to be a victory with more importance than a normal game.
    While the 14-4A win gave the Wildcats a 2-0 record in district play, it was also a very historic win in the career of Sulphur Springs head coach Greg Owens.

Notes on win over Texas High

   There were a couple of statistical oddities coming out of Sulphur Springs’ 45-25 victory over Texas High at Gerald Prim Stadium Friday night. Fortunately, they weren’t a factor in the outcome of the game.
    Texas High had three fumble recoveries for zero yards, but two touchdowns – something you will see very seldom. The Tigers twice recovered SSHS fumbles in the endzone for TDs.
