C-P track teams compete

QUITMAN — Athletes from Como-Pickton went to the recent Quitman track meet participating in both boys varsity and junior varsity competition.
Taking first was Trevor Cagle in the 400-meter dash in a time of 52.59. Second place went to Deon Robinson, 15.89 in the 110 high hurdles amd 300-hurdles, 43.55.

Wildcats rally for first, SS girls second in golf

YANTIS — Texas High never suspected the Wildcats were waiting in the weeds behind the rough at The Links at Land’s End ready to snatch the district boys golf title.
After finishing back by 10 strokes on the first day of the District 13-4A  event Sulphur Springs was not out of contention, but certainly in Texas High’s rear view mirror.

Cable. McCullough key Lady Cats' win

Gracie Cable and Meagan McCullough combined for eight hits and six runs and Hailey Dixon battled through several jams on the hill as the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats defeated Denison 9-5 Thursday night at Lady Cat Park.

Wildcats edge Denison in bounce back win

Blake Barnett's two-run double to the left field fence sparked a four-run fifth inning leading the Sulphur Springs Wildcats to a 5-4 win over Denison in District action Thursday night.
The crowd at Eagle Stadium got to see Sulphur Springs hang on to claim the important win less than 24 hours after a tough 8-3 defeat at Royse City. The Wildcats went to 6-2 in district, 14-6 overall. The Jackets fell to 1-7 in 13-4A competition.

Dixon no-hits Royse City, 9-0

ROYSE CITY — Hailey Dixon pitched a complete-game no-hitter and added one of two Sulphur Springs home runs as the Lady Cats got back into the district win column with a 9-0 victory over Royse City Wednesday night.
