Wildcats season tickets on sale Monday

Sulphur Springs High School administrative assistant Dwayne McMeans has announced that football season tickets for 2012 Sulphur Springs Wildcats home football games will go on sale July 30-Aug. 3.
Season ticket packages will cost $50 for five home games. The two Wildcats scrimmages this year will be at Denison, Aug. 17 and at Gerald Prim Stadium vs. Royse City on Aug. 24.

Hopkins Co. Belles win, play Red River Co. tonight

 The Hopkins County All-Stars staged a late comeback Monday to win 10-6 over Fannin County and advance to the semifinals of the Dixie Belles State Softball Tournament.

Hopkins Co. goes 2-1 in tourney

    The goal can still be reached for the Hopkins County squad.


    After posting two wins Saturday, the squad lost Sunday. But they are still in good position to win the tournament for girls the 13-15 age division.
    Hopkins County faces Fannin County at 7 p.m. Monday on Field 2 in the Dixie Belles State softball tournament quarterfinals. The loser will be eliminated.
    Also Monday at 7 p.m.,  Alto takes on Red River County on Field 1.


    The winners will meet Tuesday night and the overall champion will represent Texas in the Dixie Belles World Series, Aug. 3 in Powhattan, Va.
    Hopkins County started the tournament off with a bang, whipping Palestine 10-0. The team then  edged Lindale, 11-8 in late Saturday play.
    In the Sunday evening game, Alto played Hopkins County and won 8-6 in extra innings in a hard-fought contest.


    Members of the local  team are: Ragan Sachs, Hailey Farmer, Kimber Winchester, Shealey Wells, Alex Chancellor, Maria Banks, Elle Eckerd, Kelly Osornio, Summer Wyatt, Sheyenne Mitchell, Tamra Rushing and Emily Gray. Coaches include Alvin Hillis, Chad Sachs and J.R. Rushing.
    Admission is $4 for adults, $2 children, under four free.
