'Hard hat' tour of Prim Stadium

    Perhaps the only thing as bright as the July sun was the green turf at Gerald Prim Stadium.
    The stadium, still under construction for the upcoming football season, was visited by members of the media as Dan Froneberger, Sulphur Springs ISD maintenance director, led a “hard hat” tour in and around the location Tuesday.
    Froneberger started near the location of former historic Eagle Stadium, an area that will be a parking lot and staging area for many future events.

The Hopkins County team won 30-17 over Franklin County to win the Dixie State SweeTees championship Tuesday in Center.
The team wil advance to play in the Dixie World Series in Alexandria, La. on July 28.

    The Hopkins County Ponytails scored four runs in the first inning and made it hold up, downing Winnsboro 4-2 here Monday in the championship game of the Dixie Ponytails Softball Tournament.
