CUMBY – It is anyone’s prediction at this point.
After making a run in 2007, the rebuilt and empowered Cumby Trojans are out to do it again. The 24-point favorite will give their opponent the home field advantage as they ready for the final district feud with the Celeste Blue Devils.
“I believe we must win or lose by no more than four points,” Cumby Trojan head football coach Ed Perez said directly.
CUMBY— It is all about savoring every moment. That is exactly what first-time head volleyball coach Shelley Jones is doing. Her Cumby Lady Trojan volleyball team has turned the corner on district and is headed for Rains on Saturday, Nov. 7 to play District 19-1A runner-up Big Sandy Lady Wildcats at 7 p.m.
The Lady Trojans dominated their realm in District 18-1A earning them a bye in the first round of playoff competition for Region 3. The winner of Saturday’s action will advance to play the winner of the Avery-Overton bout.
The Sulphur Springs sub-varsity football teams playing at home Thursday provided chills and spills for all fans to see.
It was the final games for the ninth grade and the junior varsity. These squads put on a show worth the price of admission, taking two wins over Hallsville at Gerald Prim Stadium.
Last season, the Sulphur Springs basketball season ended with a loss, but it was a step.
The Wildcats made the playoffs, losing in the bi-district round of the basketball playoffs to Jacksonville.
The Wildcats will scrimmage Saturday at 10 a.m. which also features Greenville, North Lamar, T.K. Gorman and Miller Grove. The Wildcats are on the court at 11 a.m., noon, 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.
