ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Michael Reed went 4-for-5 and had a home run and Chad Bettis earned his fourth save this season to lead Texas Tech to an 8-4 win over New Mexico on Tuesday night.
Reed singled in his first at bat then came around to score on a two-run single by Taylor Ashby. Reed had an RBI double in the sixth and a solo home run in the eighth. He also scored on a hit batter in the third.
Louis Head (1-2) gave up two runs in four innings before Bettis came on in the sixth and pitched the final 3 1-3 innings to earn the save for Texas Tech (12-17).
Max Willett scored three runs for the Lobos (24-5). Edwin Carl (1-1) gave up five earned runs in 2 2-3 innings in the loss.
