Lady Trojans claim district championship

FRUITVALE—Sailing through district undefeated, the Cumby Lady Trojans (27-5, 12-0) are the District 18-1A champions.

With the scoring power led by Savannah Neal with 14 points, the Lady Trojans' victory over Fruitvale in three games: 25-15, 25-9, and 25-22.

Neal also had an ace, five kills, 10 assists, and one dig in Tuesday night's volleyball action. Lady Trojans Kailee Sartin scored 10 points, with two each kills and digs; Laura Oviedo had seven points, one ace, seven kills, two digs, one block; Brittany Seely also scored seven, one kill, five assists, and a dig; Courtney Steward had five points and one dig; Valerie Partridge added four points, a kill;  Ashley Anderson had one point and a kill.

Rebecca Prather added a kill and a dig along with Demi Newsom with four digs in Cumby's defeat over the Lady Bobcats.

Cumby has earned the first round bye in playoffs.

The Lady Trojans will host Caddo Mills in a warm up game this Saturday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m.

Members of the Lady Trojan varisty team include: juniors-Brittany Seely, Savannah Neal, Laura Oviedo, Kailee Sartin, Ashley Anderson, Rebecca Prather, Alisa Colley, and sophomores-Demi Newsom, Valerie Partridge, and Courtney Crumpton. They are coached by head coach Shelley Jones along with assistants Kevin Tanton and Christina McCraw.
