Teams in District 13-4A made moves to get position for the playoffs with wins Friday.

The Sulphur Springs Wildcats moved their record to 2-2 in district with an impressive 47-7 win at Mount Pleasant. The Tigers fell out of the playoff hunt with their district mark falling to 1-4.

The victory was the first in district play for the Wildcats since a  45-7 decision over Pine Tree on Sept. 25. Sulphur Springs was in need of the win after losing to Longview and Texas High.

The Wildcats dominated the game from the start, scoring 23 points in the first quarter and never looking back.

Sulphur Springs had 422 yards offense, almost a perfect balance with 224 coming on the ground and 198 in the air.

The Mount Pleasant team never really got rolling offensively, thanks the Wildcat defense. The Tigers managed 2.2 yards per rush on the night, compared to 6.6 for Sulphur Springs.

Longview won 45-0 over Hallsville.

The Lobos went to a perfect 5-0 in district with the win. Longview dominated the Bobcats allowing just 94 total yards in the game. The Lobos are no assured of at least a share of the title for the sixth straight league championship.

Hallsville well to 2-2 with the loss.

Maybe the upset of the week, was the 36-30 win by Marshall over Texas High.

Texas High had the lead early, but the Mavs closed out strong scoring the final 16 points of the game.

Marshall is 5-3 on the year, 3-1 in district. The Mavs are in second place in the race.

Texas High fell to 4-3 overall, 2-2.

For the Mavs, their power running attack was in full speed. Jamal Anderson and J.C. Haigwood each over 100 yards.

The Wildcats and Mavs clash Friday at 7:30 p.m.
