Fans in the area have plenty of football games as long as they have gas in their tank.

Sulphur Springs is idle this week, but other area teams are in key district games.

The Wildcats are at a good resting point. They are 5-2 on the year, having dropped their last two district games to Longview and Texas High.

In other 13-4A games it is Longview at Marshall; Texas High at Mount Pleasant and Hallsville at Pine Tree.

The lone home game for teams in the area will be held in Rains.

The winless Rains Wildcats will be in homecoming action against Farmersville at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The Wildcats are 42-point underdogs according to the Harris Ratings.

The Liberty-Eylau Leopards are a 28-point favorite at home when they host Mount Vernon.

The Tigers come into the game at 5-1, 0-1 in District 16-3A action. The Texarkana L-E team is the pick to win district according to preseason polls.

The Cooper Bulldogs (3-3, 1-2) will be playing at 13-2A rival Lone Oak.

The Bulldogs, who suffered a tough 25-14 loss to Quitman in their last game, are underdogs  by 24 points for the road game.

Another 13-2A battle will pit Winnsboro at Alba-Golden. The line on the game was not listed. The Red Raiders are favorites to some, coming off a 39-27 win over Como-Pickton.

The Como-Pickton Eagles will also be loading up for a road trip.

The Eagles are 42-point underdogs at Caddo Mills.

Como-Pickton has the tough job of stopping or trying to slow record-setting senior running back Nathan Jeffery.
