Miller Grove downs Yantis

Miller Grove downed Yantis 25-10, 25-13, 25-14 in recent varsity volleyball action to go 7-1 in district play.
Mareyna Dillard had 17 service points with two aces and four kills; Haley Potts had 14 service points and one ace with two kills; Jena Burns 13 services, two aces and three kills; Shayelyn Emerick and Shannon Stewart each had 11 service points. The team plays at home today at 5 p.m. against Greenville Phoenix.
Cumby sweeps Fruitvale team
CUMBY — The Lady Trojans scored a district win over Fruitvale by scores of 25-2, 25-21, 25-15 in district play.
Savannah Neal led the team with 22 points, three aces, eight kills, 10 assists and two digs; Alisa Colley had nine points; Kailee Sartin, seven points, six kills, two digs; Brittany Seely, seven points, eight assists; Laura Oviedo, four points, four kills, one assist and one block; Courtney Crumpton, three points; Rebecca Prather, one ace.
Cumby’s JV won 25-18, 25-7 with Courtney Salinas serving for 14 points.
The Lady Trojans are 23-5, 8-0 in varsity district, They play today at Yantis at 5 p.m.    Lady Cat JV
rolls to victory
The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats JV took big wins over Texas High in Friday volleyball competition.
The Lady Cats won by scores of 25-14, 25-27, 25-20.
The team is now 22-8, 7-1 in district.
Lady Cat assistant coach Eric Buck said service point leaders were Toni Cody with 12, including one ace; Kyri Ivery, 10 and Lauren Humphries, seven with one ace.
Hailey Hollingsworth had seven kills with Melinda Escobar adding three; Ivery and Cody had three each.
Jessica Horton had 15 assists and Toni Cotton had one block.
The Sulphur Springs varsity, JV and freshmen host Hallsville Tuesday at SSHS starting at 5 p.m.
N. Hopkins downs SB
The Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears lost a non-district home volleyball match at home to North Hopkins 23-25, 25-21, 19-25, 26-24, 9-15.
Top players include: Ashley Bryant with 16 assists, eight service points, 14 digs and one block. Karissa Wolf had 11 attacks and nine service points, four digs and one block. Jamie Goldsmith had 14 service points, nine digs. Haley Lawson had seven digs and 10 assists; Ginger Thompson added nine digs and four attacks.
Coach Dee Ann Evans of Sulphur Bluff said, “We played on a solid team and took it to five games. We are looking forward to the second round of district. These girls really deserve it and continue to work hard every day.”
