Wildcats fall from poll, Lobos now 3rd

The District 13-4A football race continues to have impact on the state Top 10 high school football poll by the Associated Press.

The Sulphur Springs Wildcats, ranked No. 4 in the state last week, fell from the poll after losing 45-0 at Longview.
The Lobos, the preseason pick to win the Class 4A title, climbed to No. 3 in the poll after being ranked No. 6 last week.
Meanwhile in the Harris Rankings the teams in 13-4A are still representing the always strong district very well.
The Lobos are ranked No. 2 while Texas High is No. 9 with Sulphur Springs picked as the No. 17 team; Marshall is No. 34 with Hallsville in 68th place; Marshall is 101 and Pine Tree is the No. 155 team in the state.
In action this week, Sulphur Springs the defending Class 4A Division II champion, returns home to play Texas High at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Gerald Prim Stadium. The visiting Texas High Tigers are a six-point pick to win the contest.
In other games in district- Longview is picked to beat Mount Pleasant by 35 points while Marshall is a 31-point favorite over Pine Tree.
In other scores from Friday - Marshall 38, Hallsville 33; Mount Pleasant 21, Pine Tree 7; Texas High open.
