CUMBY — Under the Frazier-Lawrence Field lights Friday and on Future Trojans night, the Cumby Trojans were not able to keep the winning streak alive. The visiting Maud Cardinals went home with a 34-14 win.

Trojan senior Timmy Cook threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to his target classmate Michael Morris. Morris made three catches to gain 53 yards receiving for the night while carrying four for an 11-yard rushing gain. The first quarter saw scoring by both sides as Maud tilted the board 14-7.

The Maud squad continued to hold the Trojans scoreless into the break while putting on six more to the board.

The Cumby fans were revived as senior exchange student Daniel “Cancun” Degetau ran in a 42-yard score in the third quarter. Degetau had eight carries to rush for a total of 80 of the 107 yards and booted both extra points good. The Trojans were not able to retaliate as Maud added two more touchdowns and extra points in the fourth quarter. The battle ended 34-14.

Cook completed five of nine passes for 62 yards and had two interceptions. Morris contributed to the passing yards hitting two of three for 19 yards.

Trojans senior Alx Olker caught two for 19 yards, and senior Rodney Hobbs (five carries for 17) had two receptions for a gain of nine against the Cardinals. Cumby racked up 188 total yards of offense.
