Wildcats, area teams in action tonight

The majority of the football team in the area face key district games tonight.
The Sulphur Springs Wildcats will host 13-4A rivals Pine Tree at 7:30 p.m. at Gerald Prim Stadium. The home team is a 30-point favorite in the big game. The Wildcats are ranked No. 4 in the state with a perfect 4-0 record while Pine Tree is 1-3.

In other District 13-4A games it is Longview at Texas High (Lobos picked by 21); Hallsville at Mount Pleasant. The Tigers are four-point picks. Marshall is open this week.

The annual Sulphur Springs homecoming ceremonies will be held at 6:40 p.m.
The lone team in non-district play this week is Cumby.
The Trojans are at home against Maud in a 7:30 p.m. battle at Frazier-Lawrence Field. Cumby is a 27-point underdog. But the Trojans were underdogs last week and upset James Bowie on the road.
Emory Rains, winless on the year and ranked No. 170 in the state, will trek to Brownsboro (37th in the state) for a 7:30 p.m. District 13-3A opener.
Winnsboro, 0-3, will open District 13-2A at Grand Saline today at 7:30 p.m. Winnsboro, the No. 83 team in the state is a 10-point favorite.
It’s homecoming this week in Mount Vernon. The Tigers are seven-point favorites as they take on Mineola at 7:30 p.m.
Cooper and Como-Pickton open District 13-2A play at Bulldog Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
