EMORY – Two teams met on the football field of Wildcat Stadium on Friday night, both in search of their first win of the season. At the conclusion, it was the Rains Wildcats who were left still searching for a win after a 54-7 loss to the Kemp Yellowjackets.

Kemp wasted little time getting the monkey off their backs. On their first offensive play, Cris Murray raced 78 yards for a touchdown. Murray later added touchdown runs of 38 and 5 yards.

Wesley Kerr was the next Kemp running back to post points. Kerr scored on a 20-yard run, then followed with touchdown runs of 8 and 16 yards.
Trevor Vandeventer directed the Wildcats on a 20-play scoring drive that spanned 71 yards. Vandeventer capped the drive with an 11-yard touchdown run with 3:20 remaining in the second quarter. Zach Young added the point-after kick making the score 37-7 at the end of the first half.
Kemp quickly extinguished any thoughts of a Rains rally in the second half. Kemp needed just three plays to set up a 28-yard touchdown run by Brandon Smith to increase Kemp's lead to 43-7.
Kemp concluded the scoring with Murray's 5-yard touchdown run and an 18-yard field goal by Scott.
Friday night Rains travels to Brownsboro to take on the Brownsboro Bears.
