SS teams split games at T. High
TEXARKANA — District 13-4A volleyball play continued Tuesday with Sulphur Springs playing three teams from Texas High.
In varsity competition, the Lady Tigers beat the Lady Cats by scores of 25-15, 25-23, 25-18.
Texas High is now 1-1 in district while the Lady Cats fall to 0-2.
The first game was a 10-point win by Texas High. The second game was closer with Texas High only leading by a small margin. In the third game Sulphur Springs twice held leads. The Lady Cats saw Texas High rally for an 11-2 finish to the game.
The Sulphur Springs JV swept the matches by scores of 25-14, 28-26.
The Lady Cats freshman A team won 21-25, 25-18, 25-21. The squad is 12-10 overall, 2-0 in district. Sulphur Springs won the B team freshman games, 25-15, 25-18, 25-26.
The teams play Friday at Hallsville.

SSMS teams
beat Pine Tree
SULPHUR SPRINGS – Sulphur Springs eighth grade A and B teams opened the season with Longview Pine Tree.
The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats played opened the season with home action against Longview Pine Tree on Friday.
The A team defeated Pine Tree in three games. The Lady Cats lost the first game 25-19 and came back to win the next two games: 25-15 and 25-20.
Enlin Martha led in serving points with 10, Madison Ramirez had nine points, Jaleigh Avery with six, Kesia Johnson and Bailey Modesitt each added four.
Destiny Wade lead in kills with five, Hailey Chester and Kiara Johnson each had two. Kennedy Potts, Teja Evans, and Dillie Collins played a good defensive game for the Lady Cats.
The B team lost in two games: 25-22 and 25-16. Katlyn Maddox led the scoring with five and Maci Johnston added three points. Jasimine Walker led with three kills.

Cross Country
The Sulphur Springs cross country placed fourth at the Van meet Friday.
Thursday games this week include: Eighth grade A/B home against Whitehouse 4 p.m.; JV home vs. Mesquite Poteet 7 p.m.
The ninth grade A/B play at Poteet (AC New Middle School)
Directions to the new Mesquite  school: From Sulphur Springs, take I-30 west for 65 miles, merge onto I-635 via Exit 56C, take Lake June Road, exit 2, stay straight to Lyndon B. Johnson Fwy for .2 mile, turn left onto Lake June Road for .7 mile, turn right onto S. Belt Line Road for 1.8 miles, stadium is on the right.
