SS boys take fourth in Tyler Lee Classic

TYLER — The Sulphur Springs cross country team opened the season with a fourth place finish by the boys varsity team in Tyler at the Lee Cross Country Classic held at UT-Tyler Saturday.

First place went to Forney with 31 points, the Wildcats had 148 points in fourth place.

Preston Weaver was 10th place in the event during boys varsity competition, first on the team. The senior runner had a time of 17.20.

Other boys varsity times and places include: Micah Hampton, 18:06, 21st; Andrew Wallace, 18:08, 24th; Tanner Bolton, 18:56, 35th; Pablo Olguin, 20:05, 58th; Tyler Usher, 20:06, 59th and Alejandro Nunez, 65th.

JV boys, times and places: Irvin Anderson, 19:08, 10th; Jesus Arellano, 19:40, 16th; Andrew Marks, 20:41, 31st; Tony Bravo, 20:51, 34th; Rodrigo Larios, 21:30, 49th; Alejandro Arellano, 21:59, 57th; Arron Pierce, 22:32, 66th; Juan Juarez, 23:27, 81st; Garrett Womack, 23:28, 82nd.

The Lady Cats varsity girls were 10th with a 287 score. Forney won the event with 31 points for first place.

In varsity girls, places and times are: Megan Massey, 14:03, 36th; Ayana Taylor, 14:31; Katelynn Huff, 14:38; Ashleigh Wallace, 15:37; Luz Nunez, 15:52; Sabrina Hutchings, 16:00. Junior varsity girls, places and times: Grecia Tenornio, 15:23, 41st; Chelsey Foster, 16:10, 61st; Samantha Owens, 16:19, 64th; Daisy Osornio, 16:57, 78th; Michelle Osornio, 18:01, 88th.

The runners compete Friday in Van according to coach Andy Holt.
