It’s  the second week of football, here are some games coming up in the area.

The No. 39-ranked Sulphur Springs Wildcats are 1-0, after beating a good 3A Paris team, 33-21. This week No. 25 Whitehouse is a four-point favorite playing Sulphur Springs at Gerald Prim Stadium Friday at 7:30 p.m. Whitehouse is 0-1, coming off a tough 41-34 loss to Garland Naamen Forest.

Como-Pickton, 1-0 on the year, plays at Ore City. C-P opened the year with a 22-14 win over Cumby in the gridiron debut.

The Eagles are 20-point underdogs in the game slated for 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Meanwhile, in Cooper the Bulldogs are  1-0 and playing great defense.They  won 16-0 win over Honey Grove, holding the Warriors to just 57 total yards. Cooper gets a home game this week. The Bulldogs are 35-point pick over Whitewright. The two teams collide at 7:30 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium in Cooper.

Mount Vernon, also 1-0 for the year.    They opened the year with a 42-0 win over Rains.

This week will play at Gladewater at Jack V. Murphy Bear Stadium. The Tigers are a two-point favorite over the Bears.

Gladewater took a 33-16 win over Mount Vernon in 2009.

The Bears opened the ear with a 7-0 win over Center.

Winnsboro opened the season with a tough 15-7 road loss to Farmersville. Pittsburg beat Jefferson, 21-3 in their opener.

The Red Raiders make the short trek to play Pittsburg. The Pirates are a 20-point pick over Winnsboro in the 7:30 p.m. Friday game.

Last year Winnsboro took a 26-20 win.
