SS netters roll over Terrell

The Sulphur Springs tennis teams won Thursday at home taking a 18-1 varsity decision and 15-3 for the JV against Terrell.

"We had an extremely good showing," said Sulphur Springs head tennis coach James Lovett. "The kids are working hard and they are getting their confidence level up. The seniors and juniors really stepped up their game."

Outstanding players included Robert Stevens, Zach Adams, Garrett Swatsell, Dillion Smith, Thermon Allen for the boys team. Outstanding girls were Jaymee Wilson, Kadi Moore, Karen Mora and Alejandra Lira.

Making great plays were doubles partners Shelby Carter and Luke Penny. Freshmen stand-outs were Mallory Martin and Madison Millsap.

"The JV performed well," Lovett added. The JV was in action Tuesday in Terrell.

District action begins on Sept. 8 with home court play against Mount Pleasant at 3:45 p.m.

Other matches scheduled include Pine Tree at Sulphur Springs, Sept. 15, 3:45 p.m.; Sept. 24 at Van, 3:45 p.m.; Oct. 1 at Marshall, 3:45 p.m.; Oct. 8 at Texas High, 3:45 p.m.; Oct. 13 hosting Longview at 3:45 p.m.; Oct. 22, hosting Hallsville at 3:45 p.m.

All are varsity matches on the schedule.
