Sulphur Springs head football coach Greg Owens had his own comments about the poll.

“Polls are polls!  This is one of the toughest districts in the state if not the toughest.  It is extremely competitive from top to bottom and you have to bring your ‘A’ game every week.  I still don’t care for polls, but it did come true last season – we finished third in district, but the state didn’t predict the 4A  Division 2 State Champs correctly.  I guess deep down, the polls kind of fire me up to prove them inaccurate.  Final results are all that matter!” Owens said.
