Sulphur Springs team undefeated in Paris

PARIS — The Sulphur Springs 9U team went 7-0 during the district tournament.  They outscored their opponents 102-13 during tournament play. The team defeated Paris National 15-2 to claim the district title.  They will advance to play in the state tournament in Center  beginning on July 11.

The team was led on the mound by Ryan Humphries, who pitched a complete game in the finals, Triston McCormick and Heston Golightly.  McCormick was the starting pitcher for three games during the tournament. Ryder Caddell, Zane Haywood, Elmer Rodriguez, McCormick, Golightly and Humphries provided several big hits.  Defensively, Gavin Millsap and Bryson Lynn were standouts.  Ty Latham, Tyrese Pryor and Joe Forshee also contributed.

The 10U team, coached by Joey Potts, went 6-0 to claim the District title. They defeated Honey Grove in the championship game 16-0 and will play in the state tournament in Texarkana beginning on July 11.

The 11U team, coached by David White, lost in the finals to Paris National.  The team will advance to state as the second place team in  Longview beginning July 11.
