Regional Track Meets set

Sulphur Bluff, North Hopkins, Cumby, Yantis, and Miller Grove will be in the Region III-1A track meet that is scheduled for Friday, May 15-Saturday, May 16. The site has been move to Palestine ISD.

Due to the short notice in change of location, please refer to the information provided by Stephen F. Austin State University.

Palestine ISD will follow the same schedule of events as outlined by SFASU.

Signs will be posted with directions to meetings, weigh-ins, etc. for coaches and athletes who are unfamiliar with the PISD athletic facilities.

C-P Sports awards banquet set

The C-P HS Athletic Banquet is scheduled for Thursday, May 21 from 5-10 p.m.  in the secondary cafeteria. The athletic banquet will recognize

the CPHS athletes and their accomplishments in football, baseball, softball, boys and girls basketball, cross country, track and field, volleyball and Special Olympics.

Each sport will present an MVP award. Crowning honor given will be the Ron Heflin Fighting Heart award, named after the former head football coach, in each sport.

On Tuesday, May 19 the Como-Pickton JH will be hosting the athletic banquet in the secondary cafeteria from 5-10 p.m.

Parents of athletes are asked to provide a dessert for the hot dog supper.

First Annual Sports extravaganza is scheduled for Saturday, May 23 at the various athletic facilities in Como-Pickton. The sports extravaganza is a spring carnival featuring the athletic programs at Como-Pickton. Kids will be able to participate in many of the activities that our athletes do in each of the sports here at our school.  For example, participants will be able to kick field goals, participate in the high jump, catch fly balls in the outfield, hit softballs in the cage, shoot free throws in the gym, and test their volleyball skills in a passing drill.  Tickets for the events will be 25 cents.  Everyone is invited out to have a great time.

Volleyball tournament set for May 15

The Sulphur Bluff school will be hosting a volleyball tournament on May 15. It will be staff versus students with a start time of 7 p.m. Concessions will open at 6 p.m.

Pre-sale tickets prices are $2 for children, $3 for adults.

On sale at the door, tickets will be $3 for children and $5 for adults.

In the first game, Student 1 team will play Student 3 team. The second game will be Staff 1 team versus Staff 2 team.

Game three will be Student 2 team against Student 4 team. Game four will be the winner of game one and game three. The championship game (best of three) will be the winner of game two (staff teams) and game four winner.

North Hopkins baseball set to return to play

North Hopkins Panther baseball team will play Tuesday, May 12 at Roxton at 3 p.m., and on Thursday, May 14 the Panthers will host Wolfe City at 4 p.m.

NOTE: The North Hopkins Lady Panthers softball team had a bye in the first round of playoffs with a date still undecided. They are set to take on the winner of the Collinsville/Dodd City game.

Saltillo softball back in action

Saltillo Lady Lions will be back in playoff action Wednesday against Lindsay in Princeton, a time is yet to be determined.

The Lady Lions beat Celeste 13-3 in Friday softball competition.

Cumby schedules ball games

Cumby Trojan baseball will commence at Wolfe City on Monday, May 11 at 4 p.m. On the following Thursday, May 14 the Trojans will host Yantis at 4 p.m. Dates are subject to change based on weather conditions.

Cumby Lady Trojan softball is scheduled to play Wolfe City on Tuesday, May 12 at 6 p.m. at Greenville High School.
