The latest UIL ruling on the swine flu outbreak has sent coaches throughout the area scrambling to change schedules for regular season and playoff baseball and softball games, yet again.
The Sulphur Springs Wildcats play their final District 13-4A game of the year Friday at Hallsville at 6 p.m.
Junior hurler Colby Suggs will take the mound for the Wildcats. Sulphur Springs has secured a playoff berth.
The Wildcats can take third if they win over the Bobcats Friday, a loss coupled with a Marshall loss also gives Sulphur Springs third place. The Wildcats are fourth if they lose and Marshall wins.
“We don’t have changes in our lineup, it has gotten us this far,” said Sulphur Springs head baseball coach Jerrod Hammack. “We feel good with Suggs on the mound. Everyone is rested, so we can use Mason Rawson in relief, if needed.”
The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats have a home playoff game Friday. They host Kilgore at 7 p.m. in the first game of a best-of-three bi-district playoff series. The second game is Saturday at 6 p.m. in Kilgore, a third if needed will be played at the same location.
The Lady Cats are 22-9 for the year, 9-3 in District 13-4A play, taking the co-championship, tying with Texas High for top honors.
