Becky Bowden just about dominated the annual Women’s City Tournament at Classic Lanes on the April 25-26 weekend.
Bowden, who carries a 200 average in league play, won titles in the scratch singles, doubles and all-events; was a member of the winning team in the handicap-only event; and was in the lineup of the team finishing fourth in the standings
The Wild Ride team – Angela Allen, Bowden, Amber Burnett and Shannon Hague – fired a 2503 series, including handicap, to take the championship. Finishing second was the Classic Lanes squad – Lynda Brown, Erika Gammill, Hague and Danilee Ogle – with a 2429 total. Third place went to the Gamblers – Cindy Butler, Pat Michael, Tonya Moody and Penny Shelton – with 2413, followed by B Rats – Allen, Bowden, Yvonne Guiterrez and Tera Smith – with 2409.
Rhonda Wilcox claimed the handicap singles crown with a 610 scratch and 84-pin handicap for a 694. Allen finished second with 682 and Debbie Miller was third with 661. Bowden claimed the scratch singles title by a single stick, firing a 620 to Amanda Breaux’s 619. Shannon Hague finished third with a 558 series.
Bowden and Allen rolled a 1255 to take the scratch doubles title, with Breaux and Amy Sharp taking second with 1079 and Deannna Hale and Donna Soeder third at 1055.
Marcella Mitchell and Kathy Bell teamed for a 1293 for the handicap doubles crown, followed by Rhonda Wilcox and Debbie Wilcox at 1268. Donna White and Melissa Shelton finished third with a 1202 total.
Bowden took the scratch all-events championship with an 1872, followed by Breaux at 1696 and Deana Hale at 1663. Handicap all-events winner was Allen with a 2043, with Wilcox firing 1950 for second and Kathy Bell finishing third at 1897.
Tournament participants could cash only once in scratch or handicap events. Results are complete but unofficial pending a final check by tournament officials at this writing.
