Lady Panthers crush Campbell

NORTH HOPKINS — Crushing the enemy may not be the object of softball, but when it is rival Campbell Lady Indians, North Hopkins Lady Panthers did just that with a home turf win 10-0.

Lady Panther Courtney Loper hit a single in the first inning for an RBI that put the game in full swing.

The victory sets coach Jim Westbrook's Lady Panthers' record at 10-4 and 6-0 in district play.

The leading hitters for North Hopkins were Loper and Liz Shaw each with 2-for-33 at bat and two runs, Chastin Smiddy was 1-for-2 and two runs, Jessica Harry with 1-for-2 and one run, Crissy Hall was 1-for-3, and P.K. Harlin was 1-for-2 with one run.

"Jessica (Harry) stayed in control of the game throughout. She pitched very well," Westbrook said in reference to his winning pitcher. Harry pitched five innings, struck out eight, allowed three walks and three hits, and no runs. "Crissy Hall had three assists and two put outs at second base."

North Hopkins will host Saltillo today at 5 p.m.
