LONGVIEW — The handwriting is on the wall for the District 13-4A softball teams.

The game was shortened due to the 10-run rule. The Lady Cats flexed their muscles with 14 hits, including a center field homer by Krista McMahan. Katie Dodd, all-state first baseman, went 2-for-3 with three RBIs; Maurie Lewis was 3-for-4 with a run scored; T’Kea Johnson was 2-for-3 with three RBIs; JaMonica Hall and Alex McGahee had one hit and one RBI each; Gracie Cable also knocked in a run. Brittani Crawford and Katie Dougan each had a hit and Mac Morgan scored a run.
Lady Cat pitcher Kaci Kennedy pitched the first three innings to get the win. She allowed two runs off two hits, striking out five and walking one facing 12 batters, throwing a total of 52 pitches, 36 for strikes. Relief pitcher Taylor Clifton had two innings of work, allowing one runs from three hits, striking out three, facing nine batters throwing 49 pitches, 32 were strikes.
“We hit the ball well. We had many players with multiple hits and of course the big blast was the home run by Krista McMahan,” said Lady Cat head softball coach David Carrillo. “If we win Friday night (against Texas High) we can clinch the first district championship since 2003. We are very excited about that.”
