SS teams play at Longview

Sulphur Springs boys and girls teams trek to Longview in baseball and softball key District 13-4A competition.
The Wildcats take on the Lobos on the road at 6 p.m.  The Lady Cats and Lady Lobos collide in Longview on the softball diamond, also at 6 p.m.
The Lady Cats are 7-2 in district and trying to maintain the lead in the district.
The Wildcats are 3-4 in district play and need a win against the the 2-5 Lobos to stay in the district race.
In Monday sub-varsity action at home, the Wildcats split a pair of games with Longview at Eagle Stadium.
The Sulphur Springs freshmen got a no-hit gem from southpaw hurler Kris Ford winning 5-0.
Ford struckout nine, walked three and allowed no runs or hits in six innings on the mound.
Top hitters were Justin Owens with a double and walk; Blake Chester with one RBI and a walk; Dusty Abner had a single; Blake Macek had a double, two walks, one RBI; Garrett Faulkner also knocked in a run.
In junior varsity play, Sulphur Springs lost a heart-breaker 5-4.
Dallin Sant pitched five innings allowing five runs off five hits, striking out six. Cody Carns pitched one inning, fanning two. Carns also had two hits, two RBIs while Sant had a double and a RBI; Lane Anderson also had a hit in the loss.
