After one round of the District 13-4A golf tournament at The Links at Land’s End, Sulphur Springs has the lead in both the boys and girls divisions in Wednesday play at the 6,644-yard course.
In the boys’ division the 312 carded by Sulphur Springs gives the Wildcats a three-stroke lead over Texas High at 315 and seven better than Pine Tree and Hallsville tied at 319 in third place.
Sulphur Springs had some of the top individual scores with Cameron Wilks turning in an 1-under-par 70 to best the field. Other Wildcat scores and places were: Adam Perry, 78, tied seventh; Chance Byrd, 81, tied ninth; Kason Childress, 83, 11th; Cort Walker, 90, 17th.
In girls’ action, Sulphur Springs leads the pack with a 353 team score and Kirstie Wallace has the top individual medalist score with an 82. Other scorers and places were: Kaitlyn Potts, 89, third; Miranda Conway, Britney Cheatham, each with a 91, tied for fifth and Kalee Perry, 103, 10th place.
The second round of district will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at the same location.
