QUITMAN —Third time wasn't a charm for the Como-Pickton baseball team Thursday after postponing their contest with district opponent Quitman three times due to rain.
The Como-Pickton Eagles were picked off 8-7 by the Quitman Bulldogs in varsity play.
"We lost another tough one Thursday. We were winning 7-5 in the seventh inning but again couldn’t hold on to the lead. We played poorly on defense which led to all eight of their runs being unearned," said C-P head baseball coach Dustin Carr. "We had solid games offensively from Austin Darby and Brodie Ogle, they each had big hits and RBIs; while Luis Rasgado scored two runs had a hit and three stolen bases. Ryan Carpenter had another solid outing on the mound giving up only four hits but suffered the loss from the mistakes in the field."
The Lone Oak game originally scheduled at C-P on Friday has been moved to today at 6:30 p.m. due to impending weather issues. C-P will also be hosting the boys district track meet today starting at 4 p.m.
