Sulphur Bluff cancel sporting events

The Sulphur Bluff High School softball and baseball games scheduled were canceled with a rescheduled date to be announced later. The Sulphur Bluff Junior High softball game at Harts Bluff on Monday has also been canceled.

Sulphur Bluff JH softball competes in Saltillo

SALTILLO — The Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears JH softball team played a doubleheader Thursday night in Saltillo. In the first game the Saltillo Lady Lions downed Sulphur Bluff 15-6, pitching for Sulphur Bluff was Kelsey Dorner.

In the second game Saltillo came out on top for a second time 15-9 with Lady Bear Maycee Potts and Cheyenne Bryant at the mound.

Hitting for Sulphur Bluff were Dorner with one for six with a single; Cheyenne Bryant two for six, two singles, one walk; Kaci Power one for two, one double and four walks, Kaitlyn Hancock was one for one at bat,  with five walks; Potts one for three, one double, three walks; Ashton Sharp had three walks; Megan Coberley with two walks, Katelyn McDonald had four walks, and Heather Anderson, Chyann Minoletti, and Sarah Williams each had a  walk.

Sulphur Bluff tracksters compete

HUGHES SPRINGS — The Sulphur Bluff varsity and JV Bear track teams competed in the Hughes Springs track meet on Thursday, Mar. 26.

For the varsity team, Zach Hope placed fourth in the 3200-meter run and sixth in the 1600-meter run.

Sulphur Bluff JV competitor Andy Adair won first in discus. Teammate Tyler Hampton placed third in the 110-meter hurdles.

Sulphur Bluff Lady Bear contestant Brittany Andrews placed third in discus in the girls' division.

 

Physicals to be offered April 26

Sulphur Springs physicals will be given April 26. It will begin Sunday afternoon starting at 2 p.m. and ending at 3 p.m.

The location will be at the Sulphur Springs High School gym.

Several doctors are donating their time to offer physicals at a special discounted price of $15. If there is a financial concern please contact Coach Owens or Coach Carrell. Checks should be made payable to SSISD.

The doctors donate the money back to the Athletic Training fund to help purchase much needed equipment. The school has been able to purchase a new SCI FIT bike.

This enables trainers to give treatments to athletes that have gone to the doctor, and the doctor has requested it, plus it is only be used under doctor's orders.
