SS freshmen win twice

The Sulphur Springs freshman girls softball team posted two wins in recent action.

In Monday night home action against the Campbell varsity the Lady Cats took a 16-0 win in five innings.

Katie Dougan was the winning pitcher striking out eight and allowed no runs in four innings.

Taylor Hawkins pounded a double; Courtney Dunlap had two singles and a double, scoring three times; Alex McGahee walked twice, had a single and scored three times; Dougan and Gracie Cable each scored twice; Katie Stewart had three runs scored; Morgan Merrell walked and scored.

In Friday play, the Lady Cats won 4-2 against the North Hopkins varsity.

Dougan struck out 11 in seven innings with one walk.

For North Hopkins, Chastin Smiddy was the losing pitcher, striking out four and walking two.

Dougan singled and scored; Cable doubled in two runs; McGahee singles and scored; Bridget Bowen had a single; Shelby George also scored.

Megan and Jessica Harry both scored in the game for the Lady Panthers.
