Bigfoot coming to Mount Pleasant

The Mount Pleasant 4-H Show Club is hosting the Big Foot Monster Truck on Monday, March 23 and Tuesday March 24 at Little Giant Discount Tire, 1219 Ferguson Road in Mount Pleasant.

Parking is available in the back or next door at Sears. On Monday, there will be pictures taken for a small donation with the Monster truck from 3 p.m.  to 6 p.m., and be available for pick up the next day.

There will also be $5 raffle tickets for a chance to win a set of four Firestone tires. All proceeds benefit the Mount Pleasant 4-H Show Club.

Saltillo pounds Sulphur Bluff

SULPHUR BLUFF — The Saltillo Lady Lions took home a 25-7 win from the Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears Friday.

The scoring flowed like water in the final inning for the Lady Lions with 11 of their 25 runs crossed home plate. Leading hitters were Emily White with 5-for-6, double triple, four runs, and four RBIs; Kimber Thompson was 4-for-6, two doubles, four runs, and three RBIs; Katie Hohbein was 2-for-3, double sacrifice, two runs, four RBIs; Erika Mobley was 3-for-5, two walks, three runs, two RBIs; Kirsten McLane 3-for-5, triple, four runs, two RBIs; Cassie Prather was one for six, double, two runs, RBI.

Lady Lions Brooke Lane, Candace Prather, and Tavyn Simmons each had a hit and a RBI.

Saltillo pitchers were was Kirsten McLane and Tavyn Simmons. Simmons was the winning pitcher, in three innings she struck out three.    For Sulphur Bluff, Lady Bear Ashley Bryant pitched six innings with six strikeouts, 25 runs, eight walks, and 23 hits.

Leading hitters for the Lady Bears were Karissa Wolf with two for three and two RBIs and Ginger Thompson with a walk and two runs.Bryant, Hayley Lawson, Jamie Goldsmith, Stephanie Hogue, Mikayla Potts each had a run for Sulphur Bluff.

Sulphur Bluff will play a district softball game against North Hopkins today. Saltillo travels to Cumby at 5 p.m. today.
