The Sulphur Springs soccer girls lost 4-1 in Saturday action at North Lamar.  The gave North Lamar the title of District 20-4A  champions.

The Lady Cats are still a playoff team and earned a first round bye.

SSHS head girls soccer coach Joel Bailey said the team will not play until March 23 or 24 against a team to be determined later. Softball

The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats will also be in play during spring break.

The Lady Cats play Tuesday at Pine Tree with the JV game at 4:30 p.m. and the varsity game at 6 p.m.

Sulphur Springs will host Hallsville Wednesday in a make-up of a game rained out. The JV will play at 1 p.m. and the varsity at 2:30 p.m.

The Lady Cats host Longview Friday with the JV game at 4:30 p.m. and the varsity at 6 p.m.


The Sulphur Springs boys baseball teams have several games scheduled this week.

The sub-varsity teams will play at home Tuesday against Pine Tree. The freshmen play at 4:30 p.m. followed by the JV at 7 p.m. at Eagle Stadium.

The varsity Wildcats were unable to compete last week in tournament play.  Sulphur Springs did not get to compete in the Ennis tournament, so they will have to open district play Tuesday having not been on the diamond for a while.

The Wildcats will play Tuesday at Pine Tree with the varsity taking on the Pirates at 6 p.m.

All three baseball teams are scheduled to be in action Friday.

The varsity Wildcats will play their first home district game of the year when they host Longview at 7 p.m.

The freshmen and junior varsity teams play on the road Friday games set at 4:30 and 7 p.m.


The Sulphur Springs golf teams got first and third places in recent action at Pleasant Grove’s Spring Invitational at Oak Grove.

Hallsville, Chapel Hill and Sulphur Springs tied for top scores with 188 in girls golf action.

Britney Cheatham of Sulphur Springs was the third place medalist with a 45.

In boys action, Hallsville had a 191 total  for first with Sulphur Springs in second  with a 196 tied with Pleasant Grove.

Mason Smolik of Sulphur Springs had a 39 score to finish tied for second place medalist honors. No other scores were available.
