The weather could not have been better for the Lady Cat soccer team on Monday, senior night, at Gerald Prim Stadium.  Sulphur Springs took an exciting, high scoring victory from the Lady Cats of Paris High, 6-2.
Sulphur Springs looked very alive coming into their final home game of the 2009 season.  The Lady Cats got off to a quick 2-0 start thanks to a Kaci Crowson goal in the seventh minute of the game and a free kick score from the top of the box by four year varsity member, Brittany Lamphere.
With seven minutes left in the first half, junior Karlie Junot knocked in a goal to put the Lady Cats up three to nothing.  But a minute later, Paris’ Brooke Taylor put her Lady Cats on the scoreboard.  Sulphur Springs went into halftime with a demanding two point lead, 3-1.
Junior goal keeper Macy Hurley got the home crowd fired up early in the second half with an astonishing penalty kick save to keep the score at 3-1.
Minutes later, Junot got her second goal of the game five minutes into the half taking the Sulphur Springs lead up to three goals, 4-1.
The goals kept on coming for the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats.  Diana Sanchez added to the point total at the thirty-second minute mark putting the Lady Cats up 5-1.  With only nine and a half minutes to play in regulation, Lamphere tacked on another goal to give the Lady Cats a 6-2 lead.
Paris would score once more in the second half but it would not be enough to catch up with the goal happy Lady Cats of Sulphur Springs.  Senior night was quite rewarding for Lady Cat seniors Lamphere, Jentri Broumley, and Bonnie Grafton and for all of those present to witness the Sulphur Springs crushing victory over Paris.
With the win the Lady Cats move into a third place tie with Paris in the District 20-4A standings.
The Lady Cats travel to take on the district leading North Lamar Lady Panthers Friday night in the final regular season game.
